Bread seems to stay fresher

I have only.put store bought bread in it so far. When it ages, it dries out but doesn’t go mouldy. I’m keen to see the home made outcome. I haven’t washed it between loaves, just when I got it. I shake it out and add the next loaf. Maybe I should wash it lol.
