We have been pulling out these resources when emotions are big with my three year old and my five year old. We have all benefited from using!

A Positive Start

We started to set up our calm corner last night when my 7 yo son (with autism) was struggling to self-regulate while watching a basketball game in which his team was losing. I invited him to help me set up our calm corner. He identified that he was feeling sad and that drawing would help him calm. It wasn’t long until our 4 yo took interest and started to help making it cozy with blankets, pillows ans stuffed animals. The two then drew together for at least an hour in our calm corner and both said they were feeling calm and happy as they went to bed.
