In southern La, brought up on coffee and chickory(cafe au lait), then Vietnamese drip, and a run of lattes, I believed coffee had to be dark, strong, and covered up. As life has forced sugar and cream out of the mix, it has been a struggle to find a good tasting plain cup. If not burnt, definitely bitter, and always just meh. I’m 5 down, 5 to go, and not one burnt, not one bitter, and they all stand on their own distinctively. Black bag series and Cameroonian mt oku are front runners so far.
