Ritchey Clover Button

I’ve had good luck with the Ritchey Clover Buttons for two-piece cattle ear tags. They install cleanly when used with the correct Ritchey tool pin, and they seem to hold the tag securely once they’re in. I like the dome-style design because it doesn’t leave as much exposed edge behind the ear for twine, brush, or junk to catch on, which is a big deal when cattle are around hay, fences, and pasture. They’re a simple part, but they feel well thought out. Good retention, easy to use with the right pin, and a cleaner design than a basic flat back button. I’d buy them again, especially for calves or cows where I want the tag to stay put.

Haven’t had any issues with the clover buttons. Even in the swamps of Florida where our cattle are constantly rubbing up on trees and branches, we haven’t lost a single tag.
