Quality bag with small room for improvement to make it perfect for my (but perhaps not everyone's!) use case.
I bought this bag to satisfy two niche cases not covered by my existing bags. First, I wanted a relatively small sling with longer and narrower dimensions for outings with a single relatively long lens (body and lens thus carried on their side) without excessive wasted vertical space in the bag.
Secondly, I wanted something that when traveling abroad, where I usually bring a single compact lens on the body, I would be able to use the rest of the bag for travel-related odds and ends during outings, and which is relatively packable (so it can better fit into my larger travel backpack in transit) without extraneous rigid padding.
This bag satisfies both cases well, since it is indeed shaped as needed in the first case, while also having the extra padding be removable (there's still sufficient padding if you're careful, especially in the bottom of the bag where it's most important) satisfies the second case. It's also comfortable to carry, built well, and not unreasonably priced in the realm of specialized camera bags.
There's a few things that would take the bag from great to perfect for me. First is if they offered it in other colors besides black, which I find boring. I fix this by adding some bright orange paracord accents, but nonetheless I know ThinkTank has many vibrant new colorways for other products which they could bring to this model.
Secondly, I think it could do with better accessory organization. Primarily, since there's already two external general zippered pockets (one dump pocket on the face of the bag, one smaller hidden one on the back for concealing stuff like passports), the loose internal accessory pocket held closed by a small patch of hook and loop would have been better if it was a series of elevated smaller pockets sized for stuff like batteries and SD cards. I say this because the formless pocket presently inside just ends up letting everything sink to the bottom, where it potentially competes more for volume against the camera and lens. Fortunately, in how I use the bag, I have the option of using hook and loop pouches against the internal sides of the bag to help rectify this lack of suspended organization.
Lastly, I concur with another review that this bag would have been that much better if the waist/fanny belt was designed to be removable. Having it permanently attached adds unnecessary weight and bulk in most use cases. I imagine most users will never actually use it fanny-style, although I will say the bag having the option does give it a potential (though unlikely) third niche use case for me, in case I ever for some reason needed a bag carried that way instead of crossbody. Still, either making it removable when not needed or creating a simplified alternate model without the waist strap at all would probably appeal to many who like the styling of the bag otherwise.
I'm still giving the bag a 5 because I knew about the potential areas for improvement before purchasing (I research purchases exhaustively), and it's fair to say I'm not perhaps 100% the target user in all ways. It just so happens few manufacturers are producing the exact sort of bag I was seeking when I bought this one. None of the issues I raised (mostly raised in the hopes one day they might be incorporated in a successor model) are seriously deal-breaking anyhow, and the bag is very good at what it was made to be.
