Nice Corn, but Not for My Area
Sometimes I push the limits on what I can grow here in the CO Rockies at 9,000' elevation. After one disappointing experience attempting corn here several years ago, I thought I'd give it another go in a better bed location. I have a little more experience under my belt, and I'd heard through the grapevine that someone else was growing corn near here. Every year is different as far as climate conditions, and I'd hoped that this would be a good one. It was! This was a banner year for many other things in my garden, and we had a longer-than-average summer, in terms of # of days between frost/snow in the spring & fall. It just wasn't enough for the corn. I did get 3-4 ears of somewhat edible corn (24 plants), but the rest went to compost. The photo included shows my corn, September 12, 100 days after planting 6/4. The stalks were barely 5' tall. This is not a problem with the seed or the variety, rather an indication that corn doesn't grow here.

So far so good
Great germination rate. I live in an area with a short growing season so I started in the greenhouse and planted out carefully. Very few didn’t germinate, like maybe 5 or so out of 144.
