Desperado was a Success in Zone 10a
I directly sowed in raised beds in mid-August. By the end of September, 1st of October, I was harvesting. I planted in the northwestern part of my boxes that get a lot of shade from our harsh summers, as well as in a more exposed south eastern area. the shadier areas formed the more healthy plants & produced the better harvest. I would definitely try the variety again in our shorter time frame between summer & fall.

desperado beans
These beans are straight, crisp, (my daughter says they squeak), stringless and yield a lot of beans per plant. The best green beans I have found.

Excellent tasting green bean!
This is my third year growing desperado green beans. In the first two years there were highly prolific and produced beans throughout the season. This year, they look great but the oldest beans (I planted 3 times) have pretty much stopped flowering after about 2 months. I don't recall this happening in the past - perhaps it's due to the unseasonably hot weather we're experiencing in southwest New Mexico this year.
