I was disappointed in the condition of the tines when my Billy GOAT Root Fork arrived. One has a noticeable gouge and another has an extremely rough, uneven finish, despite the product being advertised as having “Laser Sharpened, Forged, and Hardened” tines.
I understand handmade tools can have minor cosmetic variations, but at $289 I expected better finishing and quality control.
Neversink confirmed that the tine finish shown in my photos is considered acceptable under their standards for handmade tools.
My concern wasn’t whether the tool would still function, but whether the workmanship reflected the $289 price point and advertised laser-sharpened tines. I felt that concern was dismissed as merely cosmetic.
For nearly $300, I personally expected a higher standard, especially for a feature specifically highlighted in the product description.

Solid tool
If this doesn't last my whole life, I'll be shocked. A very well built root fork I'm excited to use this fall.
