The 54 sound

I was first impressed that there was a left handed stagger option let alone A3 magnets and not to mention the price. They quickly arrived and once I installed them was pleasantly surprised by the clean mellow sound of the Surfari set. These are actually quite mellow due to the A3 magnets and have very little string pull, if you raise the pickups and crank the amp you will be surprised how good they sound overdriven but the cleans are a given and not in the slightest bit harsh or ice picky. I think I’ll try the classic ones next time.

Tonerider Surfaris

Installed Surfari pickup set in a Squire affinity Strat as the original ceramic pickups were weak on tone. Also replaced pots, switch and jack with quality US made parts. Delighted with the clean bell like tones I get through a Princeton Reverb amp now. I chose Toneriders because I had installed a set of Hot Classics in a Squire Tele a while back and was very pleased with the results there. Great pickups, reasonable pricing, big improvement in tone.
