Spice Route

I’m not as pleased as I’m with Ancient Alchemy. My disappointment is mainly because of the poor performance compared to Ancient Alchemy. Ancient Alchemy has a very strong silage and longevity but this one if it last for 4 hours, I’m lucky! As for the smell though, I like it but it wasn’t a very unique smell that I haven’t smelled before. It’s very spicy which reflects the name specially the pepper. Man, you can tell right off the bat this has black pepper. I can tell this fragrance intersects with Un Air d’Apogée by Maison Violet in some notes. It’s not exactly the same but they do share some notes and if you smell both you will get what I mean. The difference is Spice Route is spicy whereas Un Air d’Apogée is gourmand and smoother. I actually prefer Un Air d’Apogée over Spice Route. That being said, as I said earlier I really do like Spice Route but it wasn’t something that had this complexity given the house and my previous purchases from the Perfumist. I’ll tell how I felt whith Ancient Alchemy; at the beginning, I couldn’t form an opinion. It was very difficult to comprehend because of its complexity. Once I lived with it and tried it many times, the relationship developed and now I can tell you it’s one of the most delicious fragrances I’ve ever had specially the dry down. It’s a bit harsh when you spray it but then you feel how amazing it’s that I want to keep smelling myself. Back to Spice Route, I don’t have that feeling because of its performance. I enjoy it when I spray it because I love black pepper fragrances but I don’t get to live with it to develop a relationship with it because after a couple of hours it would be gone!

Vetiver! This is a spectacular vetiver and spice parfum. My nose picks up a light curry nuance, slightly gourmand, but lovely. I love to wear this in the afternoon and evening. It layers beautifully with ouds, sandalwood, and rose attar. Let me say, Spice Route has saved my nose from the abuse of other parfums. I bought a high end oud parfume that was not an artisinal parfum - and I loved it until I knew better, it was my favorite until I tried more artisinal and nich oud parfums. I tried to wear that "other stuff" and after having my nose educated, that "other stuff" smelled to me like diesel fumes and garbage. Literally. Having just showered and dressed, I was dismayed. What could I do? I looked at my small but growing collection of scents. What could save me from this catastrophe? SPICE ROUTE! I sprayed one spray of Spice Route - and the beauty, complexity, and high quality of this parfum changed everything! It saved my day. I love Spice Route! I like to spray my pillows with either Spice Route or Ancient Alchemy and anoint my wrists and chest with either Sandalwood, oud, or rose attar. It's wonderful! And the prayer beads! -- I know that I am blessed, and divinely guided and protected.with every spray. Thank you Ali Attar!
