Awesome experience in Alaska
Bought these to wear at Bear Photography Camp in Katmai National Park in Alaska. Weather: 1 day sunny and 65 degrees - rest of the days rain, overcast, fog and 38 degrees. Took them through sea water (dropped off by float plane), sand (bears clamming on the beach), mud, muck, crossed rivers and streams and lying on the marsh photographing bears. Note: river crossings were only 3-4 feet due to crossing during low tides. These boots held up GREAT in all these conditions - a little slippery in mud but what isn't. No pain in my feet from walking 5-6 miles per day thru all these conditions. I wore waders with these and wish I would've ordered up another size but that is because of the waders not the boots - other than that I feel they are true to size. Only complaint: Wish the insoles were made for more wet conditions - the boots drained great but wish the insoles had a perforated bottom to drain water better and dry quicker.

MACV SOG review
While the boots themselves seem well-made, the foot portion itself seems to be OK. They definitely need to be broken in however I don't like the riser section up to the bed height. I actually think the material is a little bit too Frey and offers no ankle protection I wish it was just slightly stepper. It'd be easier to put them on quickly. For these boots, I understand they're supposed to be lightweight, but I was expecting a little bit more ankle protection, even just slightly maybe some cushioning and also necessarily a stiff upper section but maybe something that's easier to put on if I had to jump in them quickly. I'm in the military so the first thing I thought about was jumping out of bed in middle of night when the siren goes off.

The boots themselves are well made and very comfortable. Sizing was problematic for me. They seem to run narrow like Nike and Adidas and a size 13 for me fit like a 12, maybe 12.5 at best. Recommend going up 1 size if you walk a lot and definitely upsize if used for rucking.
