We like the bright and cheerful look of this mat. The background of the Rainbow is not a solid color. There is a subtle pattern that I could not see from the photos online. We highly recommend this mat over some of the thinner mats especially if your little one is as active as ours. This is a very durable mat that has good traction to prevent sliding on hard floors. The thickness gives us peace of mind when it comes to our 2 year old falling on it. She loves to run, tumble, roll and lay on it. Liquid spills wipe up easily. I just wished there were more patterns and different sizes available with the same thickness.
