I verytune I removed the cap on my 3 tuff jugs the o ring came out. Fell inside jug half the time. Prompt response to send new O rings!
The issue turned was the jugs at the top rim had a plastic whitish embedded or adhesive. It was catching the o rings. Once I scraped it off the jugs worked fine with original and new O rings.

One of my caps came without an Oring, I called support and they had me take a couple of pictures and then sent replacement Orings. Thumbs up.
