Winter Bark

Beautiful paints

I wanted a vibrant red for my palette, I was sadly lacking, and I'm really glad I decided to try out Jackmans, this is the first but not the last order. I also bought Winter Bark as I love dark and muted colours. This one I absolutely love. It has a very subtle green shade and is nice and dark.

Why did I wait so long?

I hesitated, but finally took the plunge and ordered this along with other shadow watercolors. Although the name says winter bark, and indeed it does resemble the shadows on birch bark, it also is perfect for water lilies, white roses, house shadows, and so much more. I wish I had ordered this months ago!

Ideal, go-to tree colour.

I've been mixing my own dark tree trunk and limb colours for years by way of the usual suspects. I bought this colour as an occasional 'go-to' colour for the same purpose and wasn't disappointed. As with all my previous Jackman's watercolour paints, it's rich, well pigmented and smooth. Perfect for those occasions when you just can't be arsed to mix together three colours for fairly modest trees or branches. Lifts beautifully to give 3D depth, texture and direction where needed. Perfect.
