Vol. 102: Brain Waves

This was one of my first Vinyl Moon albums, so I really had no idea what to expect going into it. I ended up being really impressed with the whole experience. Absolutely loved Vol. 102: Brain Waves. Vinyl Moon does such a great job making each release feel like more than just a record, and this one is a perfect example. The mix of rock, indie, funk, and dance-inspired tracks flows incredibly well and introduced me to several artists I probably wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. The presentation is just as impressive as the music. Bailey Crouch’s artwork is colorful, playful, and packed with little details that make you want to keep looking through it while the record spins. The gatefold, art and lyric booklet, stickers, and gorgeous colored vinyl make the whole package feel thoughtfully designed from beginning to end. It felt like getting a piece of art along with the record, not just an album. For one of my first Vinyl Moon releases, this definitely set the bar pretty high. It was a fun surprise from beginning to end and made me excited to see what the next volume would bring.

I loved it. So gentle, so pure. I felt relaxed. Played each side twice.
