I've used drying sticks or rods to prevent moisture. It didn't always work. Moisture build up can lead to bacteria growth and that's not something we want to put our junk in. The fleshlight dryer is very quiet and turns off on it's own. IMO it's a must have.

Works very well, even the lowest 20 minute setting gets dry enough to store.
