Hilarious, terrifying, and heartbreaking.

A labor of love between the director and two lead actors, Amigo was shot in less than two weeks and has established itself as an instant classic of Spanish horror. Javier Botet, famous for playing creatures to his unique physicality, gets to stretch and show his humanity, both malevolent and benign. Co-lead David Pareja matches him scene for scene. Dekanalog's Blu-ray presentation is 5 stars and the extras and printed essays are a satisfying aprés-show wind down.
