Noe's Emotional Masterpiece

Amazing performances in this visually striking and heartbreaking drama from director Gaspar Noe. Noe's take on Amour, this release looks fantastic and has some great extras too.

An important movie by Noé

Thought-provoking movie with difficult subject matter and spiritual depth. Noé's style is more subdued than usual, but it fits the mood. At least as effective as Haneke's Amour.

Masterpiece

‘Vortex’ is a grounded film which serves as a divergence of Gaspar Noe’s typical work which tend to be more surreal and even psychedelic. Retaining the all too real harshness of reality popular in his work, this film focuses on the reality of aging, mental deterioration, and its impact on their loved ones. A heavy, yet bold in its cinematography and framing which adds to the emotional impact of the storytelling. While I don’t see this attaining the same level of popularity as his previous films like ‘Climax’ or ‘Enter The Void’, the artistry is undeniable; all of which makes this a worthwhile film to add to any film collectors collection.
