Stunning table, but the finish scratches so easily

This table is absolutely gorgeous, I was so excited for this to be an heirloom piece we have forever in our home to make so many holiday and dinner time memories around, but I am slightly concerned about the longevity of this table due to the finish. After very light use, it already has scratches. We have started using placemats but this doesn’t seem to help, I would have expected a top of the line finish for a top of the line table like this.
