5⭐ something warm, hopeful, and full of heart
4⭐ story
5⭐ narator
A serious illness, grief, and a second chance at love could have made this story unbearably heavy. Instead, Jay Hogan created something warm, hopeful, and full of heart.
I loved the friendship, the support, the humor, and the way their connection developed naturally over time. The sense of community surrounding them made the story even more special.
My only issue was that sometimes the characters seemed a little too good at understanding and explaining their feelings. I occasionally wished for more uncertainty, more stumbling, and less perfectly articulated self-reflection.
I also listened to partly to the audiobook, and Gary Furlong was absolutely phenomenal. His Australian accent, emotional delivery, and character work elevated an already emotional story and made it even harder to put down. Easily a 5⭐ and + star narration.
Despite a few moments that felt a little too self-aware, I enjoyed every minute of this journey and was rooting for Morgan and Judah from beginning to end.

Wonderful
I love this story and have read the book several times but this is the first time I've listened to the audio. I could almost feel Judah's vertigo and Morgan's concern and love for him. This certainly did not disappoint.

A caring small town
Jude started out bitter by what his health had done to his career and by the end he had a new focus. The secondary characters were fully-fleshed people, not just one dimensional foils to Jude and Morgan.
