Buy once, cry once

The Beiter Winder Profi is a perfect example of the buy once, cry once principal to me. I purchased a BCY #26 serving tool ( locally, not from Lancaster) for around $20 and still regret the purchase. It was functional but tension needed to be constantly monitored and adjusted. I should have skipped it and put the $20 towards the Beiter instead. The Profi is made in Germany and looks like it. The fit and finish of the metal parts on the one I received are flawless, and the plastic is precisely molded and smooth. It is easy to use and holds tension very consistently once set. If your budget allows it and you are on the fence about purchasing a low dollar serving tool vs the Profi like I was, I would recommend saving yourself some time and money by just getting the Beiter to begin with.
