Great way to sample luxe brews
Coffee is surprisingly personal, so I encourage people to try this collection for themselves. For me, the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe & Java Blue were excellent. Previously I really couldn’t drink any African coffee as they all were too acidic for me but this offering from Lifeboost was profoundly smooth & rich: calling it “the unicorn of coffees” doesn’t seem like just a marketing strategy, it really tasted like that for me. The Java Blue was smooth & aromatic for me, a very lovely cup.
The Pacarama … for want of a better way to describe it, was a very “thirsty” bean that I tried grinding first medium-fine but found it literally hung on to the water, taking quite a bit more than I usually need to brew a cup — it took seemingly forever to brew as pour-over & was a hollow-tasting cup. Then for future cups even taking the grind down to medium didn’t seem to help make it brew more quickly or release more flavor — however in reading other people’s reviews I see other people really liked the Pacarama, so to each their own.
I happily have a subscription for the Embolden which is more affordable & very good, but look forward to indulging in the Ethiopian & Java again when I can afford it.
