Incredible roast.

Having spent time in Europe and being from the PNW, I like to think of myself as having a well-rounded palette when it comes to quality, artisanal coffee. When I married, my wife & I found ourselves spending upwards of $15-$25 daily to get our morning fix of coffee… it became apparent that (perhaps) we might save money by purchasing a home espresso machine. Good news, it worked! So… what roast gets us close to that artisanal cup of coffee? We searched for many months, tried local roasts from Portland (meh, ok, but the PNW medium roast tradition pales in comparison to a proper Italian or French style roast). We tried beans I purchased on Amazon - I prefer Italian - and had good results but paid the import price for them, not to mention, how long had they been sitting in a warehouse?! Then one fateful day, my wife brought home a small bag of beans from a little coffee shop she’d visited while passing through Albany, Oregon. “Weekend Coffee Roasters” read the logo on the unpretentious, made-from-recycled-materials style bag. It sat on our newly built home espresso bar for a week while we cycled through the remains of another roast… and then I thought “what the heck, let’s try these weekend coffee roasters beans…” Then… I pulled my first shot with Cacao Blend. Then another shot. And another. And yet another. The shots were beautiful. A slow flowing, almost paint-like drip from my portafilter. One after the next. Consistently producing a thick layer of golden brown crema, a complex, yet focused flavor profile that hints at chocolate & hazelnut notes, and an overall refreshing finish. Moral of the story? Buy weekend coffee roasters coffee. You will be perpetually satisfied.
