CCS Universal Tripod Adapter Plate

I want to love this system...

I really want to love the tripod adapter and can understand how some people do. I have ran into 3 major issues that might be specific to me and my gear. The first MAJOR issue I ran into was that the arca-swiss milling on the adapter does not fit my Sirui pan head. I had to take a rotary tool and shave down one side so it would slide into the mount. The 2nd issue I found was that with the adapter plate mounting orientation puts my camera on the same axis as my pan head, meaning my camera tilts side to side instead of vertically. This forces me to mount the plate not across the bottom of the body of the camera but with the plate end sticking out under the lens. Doing this caused a 3rd issue of now any commercially made hand strap doesn't reach the mounting location forcing me to make one of my own. Again these issues might be specific to me and the pan head I am using but it is still very annoying to have to grind a new mounting plate to get it to fit.

These are made the way sll photo equipment should be made. I purchased this but actually should have bought a longer plate. I will try and find good use for this in another application

Great For Cameras-Not So Much for Lens Feet

I bought this to use with a 500mm lens. Because the lens is heavy, the mount must be connected to the lens foot to avoid putting too much weight on the camera lens mount. Unfortunately, the hub connector's orientation does not allow this. It can only hang horizontally from my vest, not vertically.
