Shellbark Hickory Tree

The tree arrived alive and with plenty of healthy looking roots! I waited a few weeks to write a review to see how it would do, and it's still alive! One of the 3 branches did dry up and fall off, bit I'm pretty sure that's my fault - I was trying to get the wet paper out of the roots and might have damaged it a bit before I realized that hey, it's paper, I can just plant it as-is! I tried 3 other sellers for shellbark hickory - 2 of them cut the taproot way too short for it to survive (one of them didn't even have hardly any radial roots at all!), and the 3rd one never leafed theoughout all of spring and summer! Hickories are pretty fragile in seedling/transplanting stages from what I can tell, but this farm did an excellent job getting it to me healthy! I just hope I can manage the same for long enough that it get through winter in its pot, and can get established in my yard come springtime!

After having purchased from two other mail order/web companies, I had almost given up on successfully planting a hickory seedling. Then I came across Weaver Family Farm website and thought I would try a final time. So happy I did! It is doing very well and I have already made another purchase. I am a very happy customer - THANKS!
