J Bracket 12" depth

Installed two 6-foot shelves using three J-brackets on each shelf. I originally ordered the wrong finish and had to pay almost $60 in return shipping to exchange brackets that cost only about twice that amount. Company should offer free returns. The replacement brackets are well made and provide the look I was trying to achieve. However, the inherent design of the J-bracket, when used with a 12-inch-deep shelf, left a significant amount of flex in the shelf. I ended up drilling an additional hole in each bracket so I could better secure the shelf. Even then, I had to add hidden Z-brackets at each end to eliminate the remaining movement. Overall, the brackets look good and appear to be well made, but I paid a premium price for a bracket system that required additional modification and extra brackets to be fully functional in my application.

14 Inch Brackets

We bought 9 of these 14 inch brackets to hold our solid wood heavy 1.5 inch thick hardwood shelves. They look amazing and are solid. Highly recommended.

No More Concerns

I have a beautiful reclaimed wood floating shelf. The problem was the special bracket that came with it (not a bracket from Cascade Iron) did not hold the shelf up level. Even though there was not a lot of weight on the shelf, I worried. Plus it was unsightly! Cascade Iron “J” brackets installed with the toggle bolts have made all the difference! My shelf hangs level, looks beautiful and I have no concerns whatsoever about what I can place on it. Thank you so much for all of your help in finding a solution.
