Big improvement for winter

After first snowy/icy days I'm very happy that I now have the Schwalbe winter tires instead of my standard tires (Marathon e plus ?) used last year during winter. More grip, a lot less skidding. A very noticeable improvement in handling of the bike on ice and snow. A worry I had was how they would perform without snow/ice: for riding nothing negative, no noticeable difference in resistance. I do have a subjective impression that they are not really ideal tires in mud. Noise: yes you can hear a low level of 'rattling' when the metal spikes hit clear asphalt/concrete. But it's only slightly louder as when driving through leaves or compressing snow under tires. And as soon as there is car noise around you, you no longer hear it. I did notice that the spikes can leave (small) marks on concrete if you need to drag the wheels (sideways parking). One word of warning: they do not make you a cycling superman on ice ! You can still slip and glide, especially sideways in thicker snow that is only partial compacted along the car tire tracks. So cycling on snow and ice still requires you to be extra careful and drive with extra attention. Last part of review: Scooteretti did also mount them for me via a service appointment, very helpful if, like me, you do not have the space to work on your bike.

Pleased with customer service

I have recently bought the Schwalbe winter tires and just got them installed. I haven't had a chance to try then out yet but I am very happy with the customer service. I was able to purchase the tires by paying online ahead, let them wait in the store, and have then put on once the weather conditions were suitable. I also received some winter advice for bike maintenance. Always happy with services at Scooteretti.
