Stylus MCZ

As Good as Moving Iron Gets

This is a terrific stylus, and an improvement over the already-great Red etc. Prestige line. It doesn't have the uncanny warmth of a Timbre-type--which has restrained, but still appropriate highs and a full but not booming bass--the MCZ has a great, articulate bass and a brighter high-end than a Platinum I have, without harshness or sibilance. It is moving coil-like in its precision, but lacks the chilly brilliance of many MC carts, which I rate as a plus, a definite good thing. In short, another terrific Grado moving iron cart/ stylus, but toward their high end, and at a bargain.

Just installed. First album was a JBs Pass the Peas, never opened from 1972 and the sound is crisp and clean. My speakers are not the most amazing but very limited distortion and solid bass. Warm tone but bright when it should be.

I didn't get to use it

Unfortunately I broke the stylus as I was installing it so I didn't get to listen to it.
