In at the deep end
I am new to Procreate, and didn't enjoy the brushes etc that came standard. Looking for tutorials I stumbled across the Retro Supply youtube. Started to shop for things and couldn't decide, so this "one of each please" package seemed the best deal. It is a lot, like "I can eat a lot of ice cream", but also "your auntie Joan is A LOT". I think it will take months for me to learn all the tricks with procreate and also to explore every brush and colour and texture pack in this collection. To deal with the overwhelm I have started with the Chris Piascik pack, he does a nice video tutorial that uses all the assets in this pack. The Crispy Liner in that pack I think of as the Hand of God liner, it's like an angel is guiding you through all those curves and swoops. The different paper textures make everything look better from the first mark on the page. I could go on, but gotta get back to playing through all these piles of new toys.

Why by one pack when you can have them all
I’ve been using cheap brushes from Etsy and I’ve been using the stock brushes from Procreate for the entire time that I’ve been drawing. As something of a treat to myself I planned on buying some nice brushes from retro supply. I really like the way they looked and a few people I watch have recommended them. I couldn’t decide which pack, to take away that agonising consideration, the bundle seemed to solve it. I spent more money than I initially intended but probably won’t have to buy more brushes for a very long time if ever. Once I downloaded everything it took me a little while to organise it and import them into Procreate. I kept a backup of my downloads on my iPad so if ever I lose them from Procreate, I can reimport them, but retro supply so allow me to re-download from my account page. I have no regrets about spending this on my artistic hobby. It felt like the right thing to do and I really do think it was very fairly priced. I have to say all of the brushes I’ve tried so far has been a lovely quality. The standard pen pack on its own feels like it was worth the purchase but the colour lab has been an exciting adventure that I didn’t expect. The infernal ink pack contains some brushes that I found instantly useful. And the paper comes with has been a wonderful backdrop to my images.

Bring Back the Rawness
Having grown up in the closing days of analog, there was always something that appealed to me about it. Digital was just far too "clean". One thing that I have found with this set is that it really has helped capture that feeling like it was. It seems like the pages, the world was lived in. The difference between original Star Wars and the prequels. The Wild Bunch versus Maverick. For those that want to bring back the visceral impacted of how colors were used, this set will help you get there, with the advantages of layers.
