A quality, well-designed desk!
I've been using the 48" x 30" standing desk for 10 days now - here are my thoughts:
- Packaging did not quite hold up during shipment! The box itself looked rough, and was ripped through in a few areas. The desk corners were scuffed to varying degrees, as well as some parts on the front and back edges, and the desk surface had some circular scuff marks. I'm not sure if all of these imperfections can be attributed to shipping, or if there's a minor manufacturing/quality issue. Overall no gouges in the material, just surface scuffs, and no cracks, so not something I would personally initiate a return over! I would take a half star off if that were an option - but not quite worth the loss of a full one!
- I assembled it own my own with no issues - it was a smooth experience! I would recommend 2 people to avoid injury or damage to the desk - the legs and assembled desk are quite a bit heavier coming from a non-motorized standing desk, as expected.
- I enjoy the design (which took me a while to settle on between other brands), which differs from some other brands with the cable passthrough box, and the tapered front edge! If you use a monitor shelf or separate monitor mount, the cable passthrough is a great way to manage charging or other cables (I use 5+) below the desk. It is made of a sturdy metal, and the brushed opening results in a clean look! I also appreciate the 30" depth versus the typical 24" depth, which allows me to sit farther away from the monitor, and allows for a roomier desk layout!
- The motors and control work great! Minute height adjustments are easy to make, and the controller works well and has solid quality buttons. One of the main reasons I upgraded to an electric desk, after working with a hand-crank desk for the past 10 years, was for the ease of transitioning from sitting to standing. I've found over these years, working fully remote as a software developer, that it is important to switch between these positions, even just once throughout the day!
Overall I am impressed, and will keep Branch in the forefront of options when considering future upgrades to my home office! Between the chair and the desk I've purchased from Branch, there is a noticeable benefit from the improved ergonomics compared to my previous furniture! At this price point I feel I am getting a bit more quality than expected, so hopefully these products last, as I expect they should!
