This is actually Syrian Aleppo (Halaby) pepper, perfectly de-stemmed, de-seeded, and nicely crushed. A great alternative to crushed red pepper, and right in any dish you want to kick up the bite, yet not get 'bitten'. When you get it, taste a few flakes to judge it's flavor and heat - which is slightly less than a nice red jalapeno. Elegant, complex, and perfect in dishes of the Eastern Med and Middle East. Truly a gourmet spice with subtle sweetness and hints of cumin, and mild, yet sufficient, heat. A classy pepper appreciated by great chefs and great home cooks!
