Flame Thrower® Redbud Tree

Received within a week, not the month predicted, was the actual size ordered, and leaves on it and was very healthy,

Love the tree

I looked all over for a flamethrower redbud. There were none in my area. I had to mail order but didn't want to get a bare root plant. The tree came bag in soil. It was planted and then we had high winds and several days of Frost followed by hot dry weather. Fortunately there are many new leaves sprouting. I am hopeful for a healthy tree.

Is it supposed to look like this?

My husband asked for this tree for his birthday, and it did arrive on time and seemed to be in good shape and is about the promised heighth. But when I unwrapped it to plant it, it appears that it's actually a side branch of this tree and that the main branch was cut off. Is that how it's supposed to be? I know nothing about trees so maybe that's how they make this unique variety...but I'm worried about how it will look as it grows and matures. It also leans to the side a good bit but I'm assuming it will straighten up in the sun. I've never paid over 30-40 dollars for a tree so this is kind of disappointing - unless it is indeed supposed to look like this. Can anyone clarify for me?
