Filler Dilemma on Maple Treads

I’m intending to use the filler on hardwood maple stair treads installed with recessed trim head screws. They’ll be finished with A2 stain in Bourbon. I sampled the filler with A2 in bourbon on a piece of my maple treads. Unfortunately the filled recesses are noticeably darker than the stained treads. I’m not sure if I like the look or not and may try to sample a lighter filler.

FILLED CRACKS WELL!

Used it to fill in some small cracks and it definitely filled the cracks in well. It is more noticeable than I thought it would be after I put the oil plus 2c on it.

Wood filler met expectations.

The wood filler worked great. It was easy to use and took the Rubio finish beautifully. The only thing that surprised me was how the product thickened while being applied. I mixed it up a good consistency but that consistency shifted constantly during application. There was a learning curve that I eventually learned to leverage.
