Good replacement for Akorn Junior top
Found that it was hard to get a replacement for the top vent on my Akorn Junior in the UK and a forum recommended the Tip Top Temp as a replacement for it. It easily slots over the top and provides a very predictable way to main temperature (better than the original vent)

Best Temperature Controller
I’ve been using the tip top temp for a year now, and reflecting on the last year I’d say this is something I would consider essential to any cook I’m doing which is not direct contact heat. I use the tip top temp on a standard kettle and on a Weber Smokey mountain. It’s honestly the perfect midpoint between trying to adjust the vents yourself and going all out on a digital temperature controller. No worrying about batteries. Set your coals going and let the kettle/smoker temp start to rise with the tip top temp allowing full airflow. Then just as you’re reaching your desired temperature, turn it until it just about closes off the airflow. From that point in your cook, you basically won’t have to think about the temperature again (save for one time where it started raining and slightly ruined my cook in general, pretty heavy rain). I’ve been able to get 110C using a snake in a large kettle for almost 10 hours. I then had to lengthen the snake. I’ve also had about 18 hours from a medium Smokey mountain at 105C with no coal needed adding.
My TLDR is that this is now something I consider to be an essential bbq tool, recommend to everyone I meat, and results in the thought “why don’t bbq vents all do this as standard”.
