The Extra Long Tail Strap is not optional unless you are 5' tall or less, or want to have your instrument body at shoulder height. It should be included with the strap, especially the $180 Duo Strap.

Just get the extra long version

So I purchased the regular sized John Patitucci signature strap and it fit well when using it for my Fender jazz bass but if you wanna use it for a 335 style guitar, you'll might it too short. So just get the XL version and you won't have to buy this extension. Other than that I really love the comfort these straps provide!
