I recently got the Evolv Kronos climbing shoes, and I have to say, I'm really impressed! They’re super comfortable, which is perfect for my indoor sessions. The synthetic upper fits snugly without making my feet feel too hot. I love the moderate downturn; it gives me great precision on footholds while still being comfy enough for longer climbs. The rubber sole provides excellent grip. Overall, I think the Kronos is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to up their climbing game while staying comfortable.

Overcoming problems

My daughter chose climbing shoes for me to give to her boys, my two grandsons but the courier missed delivering the package. The shop were very helpful by phone and redirected the package to their home and it arrived safely after Christmas. However one pair is a poor fit. The shop has been very helpful by phone and an exchange by post is planned. My grandsons are very happy with Evolv Kronos so far.

Covid and an average Brit summer have meant few outings for this new pair. So far, however: they seem solidly made, suitably sticky, and to offer a good balance between edging and smearing. Their general shape is ‘big toe oriented’ and this will suit some foot types but not all. The design idea of the Kronos –the Holy Grail of being tolerably comfortable but technically proficient– is a sensible, grown-up one, and so far I think Evolv have succeeded. This type of shoe is obviously a compromise, but a wise one for the vast majority of climbers. I’ve given 4 stars on the basis of first impressions and because they’ve not yet had much mileage.
