Good Quality for the Price, but still a few Issues
Still getting used to my King 4" Cooling Copper Topper but in a positive way. I've always used quality 3" charcoal infused cooling eggshell toppers, but after 5 years, my fav topper was no longer fully supporting my shoulders, arms, & neck, and causing me pain. (Side sleeper). I've been looking for a replacement as no one seems to be making quality cooling eggcrates more. I tried a Sealy 3" cooling gel foam with padded cover last year, and it split down the middle after 6 months and the fiberfill cover kept bunching up. After much research, am trying ViscoSoft's. I am much impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship. Quick shipping, too! I have noticed a significant decrease in my shoulder and arm pain, although I feel like my lower back, hips, and legs are stiffer upon rising. I also found that while the topper is definately cool, I do warm up considerably as I sleep. Great in the winter, but wondering about Texas summers. I added an 8 pelt sewn sheepskin on top of the ViscoSoft topper which seems to help keep me cooler, (seems counter intuitive but it works), which I used with my old eggcrate topper. I've also purchased linen sheets instead of sleeping on 100% cotton, but have not used them yet. I've also noticed it is harder for me to roll over to switch sides, as I do become "entrenched", feel like I stick to the mattess, and feels like I have to make an effort to roll up out of the dip, which is aggravating when I've half asleep. I have never experienced this with eggcrate toppers. Rather than use the straps, I wrap the whole thing in 2 layers of fitted sheets. Then I tuck the topsheet along the bottom. Pretty much using this like a mattress, as the mattress underneath is a hybrid with springs, but is still too hard for me. This keeps the topper from slipping, though it does slip to the side 1-2" every now and then. All in all, it's a good quality topper for the price, and is serving the purpose I purchased it for: Arm, shoulder, & neck pain relief. I'm not thrilled about the heat retention or that it's harder for me to roll over, hence the 4 Stars. Wish ViscoSoft would consider making an Eggcrate topper, copper or charcoal infused . . . .
