Swallowtail Butterfly In-Depth Tutorial

Pretty, but hard to do in CP

I really looked forward to this lovely tutorial. Such a nice project. However, my first impression is, I don't have the same kind of colored pencils, so color matching is very tedious. Second, I concluded it takes way too long to do a CP background and subject, and I just am not a fan of the results of layering CP. I don't feel I can get enough contrast and depth. It was a learning experience, having only started using CP last summer but would not attempt another drawing of this type.

Swallow Butterfly

I spent quite a bit of time on tracing the butterfly, and then started work on the blurred background. It was very difficult to do and ruined the picture. Very disappointed. Could have used more info on how to do background.
