Warm and Cozy

As a woman of a certain age experiencing my own personal summer but also living in the great white North where even a person such as myself notices that it is cold, the Tobin is cozy and comfy without making me uncomfortably warm. I made the Tobin several years ago out of a charcoal and black leopard print french terry. I used the Cowl neck. What I love about this Cashmerette pattern is that it still fits and looks flattering despite drastic changes in my shape. It fits me well from my shoulders - a part of me that apparently is close enough to my actual skeleton that they don't change much when the rest of me does. I now have a Tobin Sweater which is looser and longer than it was when I first made it, but it still looks great on me. The cowl neck gives me enough venting to keep me comfortable during the conflict between my body's heat and Michigan's freeze.

A Favorite

I sewed the cowl neck version and i'm enjoying it. Very cozy and the longer back covers well! I had to significantly adjust the sleeves since I have large arms, right below my biceps and lower the bust darts. Will make more next fall!

Quick and easy to make, comfy and stylish to wear!

I made my first Tobin from micro rib scuba, view B with a straight hem. Size 18 G/H cup. It was cut out and sewn up in an afternoon! As Cashmerette patterns usually fit me pretty perfectly first time I didn’t do a toile. On my next Tobin - as there will be more - I will lower the bust dart 1” and straighten the lower sides at the hip area but that’s all. I think the Tobin would also make a great sweater dress for a casual comfy look.
