Excellent, but not perfect
I’ll start by saying that I have no complaints with the quality of the bag; the leather is beautiful, it is well constructed, it’s classy, and I have no doubt that it will last me for years and years. That being said, while I am overall impressed with the bag, there are some areas in which it has flaws, specifically with the internal storage. There are no “deal breaking issues,” but for the price of the bag there are design flaws which I would love to see resolved.
Although the image on the website shows that the bag holds an iPad in the internal side pocket, my 2022 iPad Air does not fit in the pocket. In fact, both sides of the bag have slim and large pockets, one with a zipper, but both are too slim to really fit more than a few loose pieces of paper. I wish one was large enough for an iPad, or at least deep enough for more than the papers that it holds currently. The small size of the pockets mean that I have to keep my iPad loose and unprotected in the bag, which isn’t my favorite, but is tolerable.
Another small issue is the key leash. First, while the images on the website seem to show that the bag comes with two key leashes, it actually only comes with one. On further inspection the website does show the same key leash twice in one image, not two separate leashes. Additionally, the leash is quite long, so when it is attached to the bag your keys will still be sitting on the bottom of the bag and your items will be piled on top of them. I would have loved to see two key leashes for the price, and in my opinion they should be shorter so your keys do not sit on the bottom of the bag.
Also, in the modern day I would have loved to see a small, possibly hidden, interior pocket for an AirTag or tile tracker, or for a small stash of cash. I put an AirTag in the interior zippered pocket, but I would like to see a more dedicated place to hold one in case my bag is stolen or lost.
I will reiterate the quality of the bag again, as much of my review has been mildly negative. The leather quality is supreme, it has a beautiful color and will undoubtedly patina well. The hardware is classy and strong, and, like the leather, will patina well. The construction is flawless as well, the stitching is perfect, and the interior suede seems durable and is gorgeous. The bag has a beautiful color and silhouette, and makes a classy addition to a (in my case) professional environment. I am also sure that the bag will stand the test of time, and my experience with Satchel & Page customer service before and throughout the purchasing process was excellent; I have no doubt that any warranty claims I have in the future will be efficiently and appropriately by their team. Overall I am impressed with the bag, and I do not regret my purchase.
