It is plastic and it would have been better if it was book material on the outside. But when I contacted them about my displeasure they told me they would only refund 20% of my cost or I could send it back to China.

The product fell apart once i received it, and it was missing some chess pieces. I thought it was a good idea but i won’t be buying from this company again.
