Roja Oceania Parfum (Extrait)
When Roja released the original Oceania Eau de Parfum in 2019, it divided opinion. Some saw it as an elegant, understated citrus-aromatic masterpiece, while others felt it was too quiet for its premium price. With Oceania Parfum, Roja hasn’t reinvented the fragrance—he’s refined it. The DNA remains instantly recognisable. The sparkling blend of bergamot, lime, lemon, grapefruit and mandarin still provides one of the brightest openings in the Roja collection, but everything now feels smoother, richer and more cohesive. Rather than a burst of fresh citrus sitting on top of soft woods, the Parfum feels like every ingredient has been seamlessly woven together. The opening immediately evokes standing on a rugged coastline as waves crash against the rocks and a cool ocean breeze carries the scent of citrus trees growing nearby. Lavender, rosemary and thyme add an aromatic freshness that feels incredibly natural, while the citrus never comes across as sharp or synthetic. As the fragrance develops, the floral heart becomes noticeably more restrained than in the Eau de Parfum. One of the most common observations from those familiar with both versions is that the Parfum tones down the floral aspects, allowing the aromatic herbs, woods and citrus to take centre stage. The result is a fragrance that feels cleaner, more masculine and more contemporary without abandoning the signature Oceania DNA. The dry-down is where the Parfum truly distinguishes itself. Sandalwood, vetiver, moss, benzoin, orris and soft musks create a luxurious mineral warmth that perfectly complements the fresh opening. It never becomes heavy or sweet—instead it maintains the impression of salty air, polished driftwood and sun-warmed coastal vegetation. Compared to the original Eau de Parfum, the Parfum feels more substantial in every respect. The composition is denser, smoother and noticeably more refined. The original often came across as transparent and airy, almost like a luxury sea breeze. The Parfum adds texture and depth while preserving the effortless freshness that made Oceania unique in the first place. It smells less like a fresh citrus fragrance and more like a complete luxury perfume. Performance is also improved for most wearers. While it’s still not designed to be a powerhouse, the richer concentration provides better longevity and a fuller scent bubble than the Eau de Parfum. It remains an elegant fragrance rather than an attention-seeker, but now has the substance many wished the original possessed. Some wearers still report modest performance, so skin chemistry may play a significant role. If you’ve never experienced Oceania before, this is unquestionably the version to buy. If you already own the Eau de Parfum, the decision is less straightforward. The scent profile is very similar, but the Parfum offers a noticeably smoother, richer and more luxurious interpretation rather than a completely different fragrance. Whether that refinement justifies the upgrade will depend on how much you value subtle improvements in texture and quality. Original Eau de Parfum vs Oceania Parfum - Opening: Virtually identical DNA, but the Parfum is smoother and more natural. - Heart: The Parfum reduces the prominence of the florals, emphasising herbs, woods and citrus. - Dry-down: Richer, creamier and more refined in the Parfum. - Performance: Improved longevity and presence, though still elegant rather than beast mode. - Overall: The Eau de Parfum feels like a luxury coastal breeze; the Parfum feels like the same breeze wrapped in fine cashmere. Rating: 9/10 Best for: Spring, summer and warm autumn days Occasions: Office, business casual, coastal holidays, luxury resorts and everyday signature wear Age range: 25+ Performance: 8.5/10 Uniqueness: 8.5/10 Compliment factor: 9/10 Verdict: Oceania Parfum is the fragrance the original always hinted it could become. It doesn’t dramatically change the formula; instead, it perfects it. Smoother, deeper and more polished, it captures the feeling of standing beside an endless ocean as fresh sea air mingles with citrus groves and sun-bleached driftwood. For lovers of refined fresh fragrances, it’s one of Roja’s most elegant creations and a worthy evolution of the original.

Sunshine in a Bottle
Roja Oceania is one of the most refined and uplifting summer fragrances I’ve ever worn. From the opening spray, you’re greeted by a burst of sparkling citrus notes that feel incredibly natural and vibrant, beautifully balanced by aromatic herbs and soft florals. As it develops, the fragrance settles into a smooth blend of moss, sandalwood, and vetiver, providing depth while maintaining its fresh, clean character. (Roja Dove Perfumery ) What sets Oceania apart is the quality. Everything smells exceptionally well blended and luxurious without ever becoming overpowering. It evokes images of clear blue skies, coastal breezes, and effortless elegance. Despite being a fresh fragrance, it offers impressive longevity and remains crisp and sophisticated throughout the day. (Fragrantica ) This fragrance feels equally at home on holiday, in the office, or on a warm summer evening. Clean, classy, and incredibly versatile, Roja Oceania has become one of my favourite warm-weather scents and a fragrance I continually reach for when I want to feel refreshed, confident, and well-put-together.
