Why is there palm oil in these shortbread biscuits?

The heather honey shortbread biscuits are tasty, and the honey flavour is very distinctive. I was, however, shocked to read they are made with margarine (containing palm oil). Palm oil production contributes to tropical deforestation, destroying habitats for endangered species like orangutans, and releasing significant greenhouse gases. On top of that, palm oil is suspected to have a detrimental impact on cholesterol levels in humans.

Nice crumbly biscuit, lovely flavours , though ingredients include margarine and palm oil .

Tea and biscuits

I ordered the Earl Grey loose tea and Hebridean baker biscuits as a gift for a friend in Japan. I’ve tasted the Earl Grey before and found it delicious - light and fragrant. Only disappointment with the biscuits is the presence of palm oil in quite a quality product. Service is very good and fast - thank you!
