Speedy Arugula

It likes to grow

Comes up quickly in early spring, I just scatter seed and scratch it in. It's December 2 and Speedy sown in September is standing nicely in beds with Balboa and Roquette, spicing up salads in Seattle.

Timing may be critical

Arugula HATES me. I have had the worst luck with it. I ask all my Master Gardener friends and have had some suggestions, not saying they worked. This year I put the arugula in really early. That rascal bolted anyway. Really! I planted some more next to peas that were almost done. That arugula did really well with a good amount of early sun. Of course, some of that arugula bolted and we ended up the THE BEST CROP of VOLUNTEER arugula that came on in September and continues into November! Not sure what I will do next year, but I love arugula and stores in Pendleton rarely stock it.

Speedy Arugula is a perfect name for it!
