Brilliant concept, brilliantly executed
This has to be the best waterproof sensor on the market, considering the battery life & the wealth of information it can provide, with easy integration into third party smart things (Wemo, IFTTT, URL Calling to other programs such as Automation Manager IoT. This probe is now controlling my swimming pool filtration schedule & is working flawlessly.

It's About Time
I've been wanting a weather proof tag and also interested in the ground temperature. I'm using this probe to measure the ground temperature at one foot. It's working great. We had our first cold snap last night with the air temperature dipping to 12 degrees. The ground temperature is measuring 45 degrees.

Mixed
I recently bought some of the outdoor probes. I used them to replace some of the square wireless sensor tags in three greenhouses and a walk-in cooler. The waterproof outdoor probes are great for that. The setup process for the outdoor probes was frustrating. It took many tries to set up each probe. The tag manager was able to see them, but not able to connect to them. I tried a bunch of different range settings, I tried moving the tags further or closer to the tag manager. The thing that worked best was patience. I would try two or three times, and if it didn't work, I'd try again the next day. After a few weeks of this, I eventually got them all set up. The other frustration with them is that, if my internet connection drops for more than a minute or two (like if the power goes out, or if my rural wireless ISP has problems, or if we accidentally unplug the wrong thing in the house), the tags don't come back online until I power cycle them by pulling the battery out of the probe for a few seconds.
