This little amp is excellent! It sounds fantastic, with beautiful clarity, excellent detail, and an impressive soundstage. My portable setup consists of an iPod Classic 5th Generation, this amp, and several different headphones. The amp is compact, well laid out, and easy to carry.
It has just enough power to drive my Dan Clark Aeon RT headphones, but they would benefit from a little more output. These headphones require a lot of current, and while they sound excellent at 100% volume, they're just not quite as loud as I'd like and not fully driven.
On the other hand, it drives my HIFIMAN Ananda Nano effortlessly. I typically listen at around 80% volume, which still leaves some headroom if I want to turn it up. My Linsoul Kiwi Ears Astral (1DD + 6BA Hybrid IEM) is also driven with ease, and I listen to those at about 80% volume as well.
My only real complaints are minor. With the protective case installed, the touchscreen can be difficult to use, especially if you have larger fingers. Locking and unlocking the screen can be a bit frustrating. Also, hopefully in a future firmware update, you can give users the option to choose whether the volume knob locks along with the touchscreen. It's a hassle to have to unlock the screen every time I need to adjust the volume quickly. On the other hand, if I leave the screen unlocked, I frequently end up changing settings by accidentally touching the screen or one of the top buttons
Giving users the option to lock only the touchscreen while keeping the volume knob active would be a great quality-of-life improvement.Â
Overall, this is an outstanding portable amp with excellent sound quality, a thoughtful design, and plenty of power for most headphones. With a few small improvements, it would be hard to beat.
