bottom arrived bent

This item is lovely except for the bend in the bottom, right where the hinge is. I got this as a gift for my daughter but have yet to give it to her as I would like to attempt fixing it - perhaps steaming it or wetting it in the shower. I am a bit concerned that could cause mold though. Anyways, it said it was non-refundable, and truly I like the design enough to want it, but wonder if it will adequately hold things as it is supposed to.
