A fantastic device – A true upgrade in musical fidelity
The iFi Valkyrie has made a remarkable impact on my system. It integrates effortlessly into my setup, driving my KEF LSX together with the KC62 in a near-field environment while also serving as a beautifully engineered desktop device.
What truly astonished me, however, was the transformation through the balanced output. With a custom OIDIO cable on my Sennheiser HD700, the Valkyrie revealed a level of transparency, spatial precision, and tonal refinement I had simply never heard from these headphones before. Microdetail, transient control, low-level resolution — everything stepped up in a way that feels unmistakably high-end.
The synergy with my LSX is equally impressive. The Valkyrie brings a sense of ease, flow, and dynamic grip that makes long listening sessions effortless. And aesthetically, it’s a device that elevates the desk as much as it elevates the sound.
Still, as a source and DAC/amp, the Valkyrie exceeded every expectation I had. It’s a device that doesn’t just play music — it unlocks it.
A few small suggestions: given how capable this device is, clearer documentation would help more users fully unlock its potential. Not everyone is familiar with terms like ASIO, gain staging, or filter selection — and a more guided onboarding experience would elevate the user journey to the same high standard as the hardware itself. Also, the Android app didn’t work for me. There’s room for improvement here.
And as a final note, I would love to see iFi expand this concept even further. A dedicated streamer in the same design language as the Valkyrie — with a truly well-designed app, optional built-in storage for a personal music library, and the ability to share a single high-quality power supply between units — would create an exceptionally clean, elegant, and minimalist setup. Such a component would perfectly complement the Valkyrie and elevate the ecosystem into a complete audiophile desktop solution.
