Very disappointing experience.
The design of user-contributed plugins seems architecturally flawed. Some of the problems I'm running into: * The difference between the way standard plugins versus community plugins are handled are an excruciatingly bad user experience. * The lack of metadata on community plugins (such as developer contact or link to an open source repo) is kind of unconsionable. How can I offer feedback on plugins that I've hacked. * The clone concept is terrible. I should be able to get updates to the code when published, and only have the data configurable on the device. How do I even know that a dev has updated their version of the pulugin? * The device absolutely should have a per-device location config parameter that plugins can read. It is crazy that I need to configure location in every single plugin -- each plugin in a different fashion. These are all kind of remarkably rough edge that makes it hard to recommend the device.

Easy to use
Really easy to customise things how you want them and build off the community’s work, even if you’re not a software person yourself usually. TRMNL have made everything super laid out and ready for you to DIY things rather than having to wait for official integrations and apps and be locked into the developer’s priorities rather than your own

Super Easy & Fun Plugin Ecosystem
The developer ecosystem was a big reason I bought a TRMNL and it didn't disappoint. It's easy to work with, well documented, and full of possibility. Such a nice, simple design system too.
