Velvet Street

I finally tried Penrose skin products after seeing all the hype online, and honestly I’m a little disappointed. The moisturizing quality is actually pretty good — my skin felt soft and hydrated — so I’ll give them credit for that. But the scent was nowhere near what people made it seem like. It barely smells like anything at all. For a product that’s heavily advertised around luxury scent and experience, I expected a lot more. I’ve honestly used men’s lotions from Bath & Body Works that smelled stronger, lasted longer, and were more enjoyable overall. It’s not a terrible product, but in my opinion it definitely doesn’t live up to the hype. And for the price, it’s just not worth it to me. Good moisture, weak fragrance, average overall experience.

Even though I haven’t worn Velvet Street for a full day yet, the scent right out of the jar is smooth, modern, and niche‑leaning, very much in line with the Bond No. 9 Lafayette Street style it’s inspired by. It smells like something you’d expect from a luxury fragrance counter, not a basic body lotion. I can easily see this being a date‑night or evening scent once I put it into regular rotation.
